In short - If you’re looking to get results from a gym, you’ve found the place. Join now. Really, join now.
My problem at other gyms was that when I went, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I wasn’t sure that I was doing it right. I wasn’t sure that I was getting any result. The pencil and paper they handed me to track my progress really wasn’t. I got discouraged, lost interest, and stopped going. So I paid every month for the next 2 or 3 years for nothing. I repeated that pattern more than once.
I drove by a sign on day that said Boot Camp, so I thought “What the hell”. I called, the cost was very reasonable, so I went in. 9 sessions, ok, I can do that for 3 weeks. I’m not sure what I expected at the end of 9 sessions, but I got everything. I didn’t end up with that dream body after 9 sessions, but there was an amazing change – in the way I felt.
That was in February ’08.
This gym is like no other I’ve ever belonged to. What you’re getting isn’t only a bunch of equipment, but all of the benefits of a personal trainer. You’re getting a staff that works with you at every session. You’re getting a staff that knows what they’re talking about and that look like they’ve lifted a weight or two themselves. You’re getting a staff that knows your strengths and limitations, that knows when to push you and when to back off. You’re getting a staff that knows your name when you walk in. You’re getting a gym that bases its success on your results.
Once you join – Boot Camp or not – you’ll fill out a schedule twice a month for the next 15 days. You’ll choose a time that you’re supposed to be there. Once you get there, there’s a routine already set up. The routines all take an hour or less to complete. You move at your own pace. You have the trainer there to guide and coach you. The trainer will show you how to do all the exercises and will suggest weight levels. If you’ve got a physical limitation, the trainer will give you an alternate exercise to do. It’s awesome.
The cost is a little higher than the ‘big-box’ gyms, but the payback is tremendous. For the first time in my life, not only can I not wait to get back the next day, but the physical changes are definitely happening. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in. I’m more confident. I’ve lost 24lbs and gone from a waist size 35 to about 31. Every once in a while, a trainer will watch me and say “Remember when you first got here? You couldn’t do that.”
With all that said, you should expect to work. Hard. Expect to sweat. Expect to be pushed to your limits. Expect results. There’s no magic.
